Privacy policy
Last updated 29 October 2026
The short version. Your Wholes, Fractions, notes and check-ins live on your devices and in your own private iCloud. We don't have accounts, ads or tracking, and we don't sell anything about you. When you use an AI feature, the text needed for that request is sent to an AI provider to get an answer, and isn't kept by us.
Who we are
Finally ("we", "us") makes the Finally app for iPhone. If you have a question about this policy or your data, contact us using the details on our support page.
What stays on your devices
Everything you create in Finally (your Wholes, Fractions, notes, reflections, morning check-ins and the story so far) is stored on your iPhone. If you're signed in to iCloud, Apple syncs it to your own private iCloud database so it's on your other devices too. We can't see or access it. Deleting the app, or choosing Start over in Settings, removes it from the device.
AI features
Finally uses AI to suggest Fractions, write the story so far, summarise your day, help when you're stuck, and occasionally offer a gentle check-in.
- On iPhones that support Apple Intelligence, these requests can run entirely on the device.
- Otherwise they go through our relay server to OpenRouter, which passes them to an AI model provider (currently Anthropic's Claude, with Google's Gemini as a backup). We ask OpenRouter to use only providers that don't collect or train on your data.
- A request contains only what that feature needs: for example the name of a Whole, what gets in the way, recent Fractions and notes, or what you typed into the stuck helper. The background check-in sends the time of day, simple 1 to 5 scores for sleep and energy, and how many Fractions are left. It never includes your name or contact details.
- Our relay doesn't store or log the content of requests. It uses an anonymous per-device identifier, provided by Apple, only to limit how often requests can be made.
Voice input
When you tap the microphone, Apple's speech recognition turns your voice into text. On supported iPhones this happens on the device; on others Apple may process the audio on its servers under Apple's privacy policy. We don't receive or store audio.
Apple Health (optional)
If you turn on Apple Health, Finally reads last night's sleep, your step count and dietary sugar to shape the day's Fractions. It only reads; it never writes to Health. Health data stays on your device and is never used for advertising. A simple 1 to 5 sleep score may be included in the background check-in described above.
Notifications
Check-ins, the focus nudge and the free trial reminder are scheduled on your iPhone. No notification content is sent to us.
Purchases
Subscriptions and free trials are handled by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions, which receives an anonymous app user ID and your purchase history from Apple to confirm what you've subscribed to. We never see your payment details. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
What we don't do
- No accounts, sign-up or email collection.
- No advertising, ad tracking or third-party analytics.
- No selling or sharing of personal data for marketing.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including the UK and EU, you have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the use of your personal data. Because your data is stored on your devices and your own iCloud, you can view, change or delete it directly in the app. For anything else, contact us via the support page.
Children
Finally isn't intended for children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
